About me

Michael Nieves is currently a Marie Curie Fellow at the Department of Mechanical, Chemical and Material Engineering, University of Cagliari. He is also a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at the School of Computing and Mathematics, Keele University. His main research interests involve waves and dynamic failure in structured media and the analysis of vibrations in chiral metamaterials, with a view to developing a new breed of metamaterials with applications to civil engineering and the nuclear industry. He also studies boundary value problems in densely perforated solids with a novel mesoscale asymptotic approach, well suited modelling granular materials.
